Within the Czech Republic, Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute is a unique center of European importance, concentrating at single place the prevention, diagnostics and treatment of oncological diseases, together with research and education both in oncology and related biomedicinal branches. Since its beginning in 1935, the institute has been focused on science and research. Clinical, applied, as well as basic research are in process here.
In co-operation with Masaryk university and other educational institutions, the institute is an important part of undergraduate and graduate education and lifelong education. Students of nurse schools also attend internships at the institute.
Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute organizes many scientific seminars and conferences, including Brno oncology days and Conference for NLZP, that combine to form the largest scientific activity of its kind, including all personnel involved in oncology.
The unique position of the institute is confirmed by the fact that it is the only Czech representative in Organization of European Cancer Institute (OECI). Through our research center, RECAMO, we are connected to European scientific network.
